Chief Executive Officer, North American Operations
David Duclos became Chief Executive Officer of QBE's North
American operations in April 2013. He has more than 30 years
experience in the insurance industry, most recently with XL Group.
At XL he held a variety of positions, including Chief Executive of
Insurance, responsible for all global operations. He began his
career at INA/CIGNA, where he spent 21 years, rising to a number of
regional and national management roles.
Duclos holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration
from Eastern Illinois University and graduated from the Advanced
Insurance Executive Education Program at the Wharton School of the
University of Pennsylvania.
Chief Human Resources Officer
Carolyn joined QBE in 2011 and was named Chief Human Resources
Officer in July 2012. She has 20 years experience across
consulting, corporate and business development, project management
and chief of staff roles in the healthcare, pharmaceutical and
financial industries. Before joining QBE, she worked for Barclays
Wealth and prior to that spent six years working at Pfizer, with
her last role as chief of staff for the president of U.S.
Bartholdson attended the University of Pennsylvania and received
her MBA at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University.
Head of Strategy
Braden was named Head of Strategy in June 2013. He joined QBE in
2009 and has served as Vice President-Corporate Strategy and Senior
Vice President, Head of Strategic Initiatives.
Previous to joining QBE, he was with McKinsey & Company and
with A.T. Kearney.
President and CEO, NAU Country Insurance Co.
Greg Deal has been working in the crop insurance industry since
1981. Deal, along with his father, Jim, founded NAU and he
became president of the company in 1996 and president and chief
executive officer in 2005.
During Deal's tenure as president and CEO, he has overseen the
growth of NAU Country from a $50 million regional company to a $1.7
billion national industry-leading company.
Chief Financial Officer
Richard joined QBE in August
2013 as Chief Financial Officer. From 1994 to 2012, Richard held a
number of high-ranking positions at AXA Group, including Chief
Financial Officer, Senior Executive Vice President for AXA
Equitable Life Insurance and AXA Financial from 2007 to 2012.
Richard left AXA in 2012 and for the past year, served as Chief
Financial Officer for ANV, a global specialty insurance
President, Specialty Lines
Jeff joined QBE North America in September 2013 to lead the
development of its Management Liability & Professional Lines.
Jeff has more than 25 years insurance experience and previously
served as the Chairman of the Group Underwriting Committee and
Global Practice Leader for Management Liability & Professional
Lines at Torus Insurance. He spent more than 21 years with the
Chubb Group of Insurance Companies.
Chief Operating Officer
Sue joined QBE in 2012 from Citigroup, where she spent the
majority of her professional career. Before coming to QBE, Harnett
was Head of Local Consumer Lending, which includes Citigroup's
Global non-core consumer mortgage, commercial real estate, auto
loan, student loan and credit card businesses. Previously, Sue
spent three years heading up Citigroup's Global Business
Performance Management, where her focus was on driving
efficiencies, best-practice sharing, improving productivity and
customer satisfaction for businesses located in 40 countries and
revenues of $32 billion.
During her tenure with Citigroup, she also served as Director of
Retail Operations, Chief Operating Officer for Retail Banking,
President of Citigroup Canada, and undertook key roles in the
Netherlands and Belgium before being named Chief Executive Officer
of Citibank Germany, Citi's third largest consumer business.
She has an Executive MBA from Northwestern's Kellogg Graduate
School of Management
President, Property adn Casualty
Bob James leads our Property & Casualty business, which
includes the Program, Middle Markets and Major Broker groups.
He has with more than 30 years of experience as a P&L leader
in both commercial and personal lines. He began his insurance
career at Allstate, spending 15 years in roles that spanned
operations, sales (as an Allstate agent) and marketing.
His experience also includes executive leadership roles in Met
Life's personal lines business, AIG's middle market commercial
business, and CNA. At CNA Bob served as chief marketing officer as
well as chief operating officer for middle market commercial. Bob
also served as head of U.S. Insurance Operations with
responsibility for standard lines commercial, as well as the field
organization and the company's processing operations.
Bob was the CEO of Balboa Insurance Group when it was owned by
Countrywide Financial, and after its acquisition by Bank of
America, he served as the Insurance and Mortgage Operations
Executive. Most recently, Bob was the CEO of Grange Mutual, and for
the last three years has been an investment banker at Willis
Capital Markets and Aon Benfield.
Chief Risk Officer
John Langione was named Chief Risk Officer in 2012 for QBE North
America. Previously, he served as Senior Vice President-Internal
Audit. Previous to joining QBE in 2010, Langione was the Deputy
Comptroller-Financial Controls with AIG International and the
Senior Vice President-Financial Controls at ACE Insurance. He also
spent six years as Partner-Business Risk Services with Ernst &
Young. He also held positions with State Farm Insurance, Prudential
Insurance and the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General,
Division of Criminal Justice.
Langione is responsible for the divisional risk, economic
capital management and actuarial functions, in addition to serving
as the organization's divisional liaison with the credit rating
He received an MBA in Professional Accounting from Rutgers
Graduate School of Business
Chief Claims Officer
Paul Stachura joined QBE North America as Chief Claims
Officer in May 2013.
With more than 30 years of industry experience, Stachura
came to QBE from Fireman's Fund Insurance Company, where he served
as Chief Claims and Risk Services Officer since 2005.
Prior to Fireman's Fund, Stachura served Chubb & Son in
various claims roles for more than16 years.
